The client wanted a light staircase that did not appear too imposing and would blend into the room. The material (steel) was to complement the brick wall, the wood and the existing clay plaster.
The banister was added much later and echoes the industrial style of the staircase. The door was commissioned by the clients as a practical solution for the physical and acoustic separation of the rooms. It was only natural to design it in the same style.
